Oh my god, ya'll, The Office was so much love last night. Lord, how I've missed that show. And I definitely liked this premiere way better than "Gay Witch Hunt" last year.

Grey's Anatomy was meh, but not bad enough to make me vow to quit the show. As much as Shonda Rhimes pisses me off sometimes, she really does have a knack for creating these magical little quiet moments between characters. All the Meredith/Derek and Izzie/George whinging is almost worth putting up with to get to that one sweet moment between Alex and Christina. Almost. But for the love of Mary-Kate, give Chandra Wilson something to DO.

As for Big Shots... ya'll it was bad. Not just bad, but BAD. Like, I turned it off after 20 minutes bad. Me, who can sit through almost anything. By end of the first act I was thoroughly revolted by all the characters, except Michael Vartan's character, who had about as much personality as... Michael Vartan's characters usually have. Which is to say, none. It reminded me of another awful show about men acting like immature whiny bitches. Remember The Secret Lives of Men? Starring one Mr. Bradley Whitford? Yeah, this show is like that, only extended to an hour. Awesome.

I did not enjoy Grey's Anatomy last night. It was way too much like an episode of ER. Part of the reason I watch Grey's is because it's not all about the awful tragedies and dramatic, horrible medical emergencies and endless human suffering. It's lighter, and funnier, and sweeter, and when it makes me sad, it's usually a cathartic kind of sad. Last night was just a tiresome string of annonymous strangers suffering. Which I can get from the news, thank you very much. Or from ER. I do not need another TWO episodes of this.

The Office was disappointing, too. Not as funny as usual and Michael was more painful than usual, without any redeeming moments. Scrubs was good, though. Thank god for Scrubs.

You know what heaven is, though? Heaven is when you manage to resist obsessively checking your favorite author's web site every couple of months to find out when his next book is coming out. And then when you finally do break down and check, discovering that it JUST CAME OUT! And you can run out to Barnes & Noble RIGHT NOW and pick up a copy! Whee! I'll be curled up on the couch, reading all day.

More than once last week I started to write a journal update and every single time I got only a couple paragraphs in before I realized that it was so dull I was boring myself. So I decided to spare ya'll and just not post.

So, here's a catch-up summary of the Week in Television that is hopefully not (too) boring.

First, Bones... Two Bodies in the Lab )

Then, there was Veronica Mars. Versatile Toppings )

And then there was The Doctor. Doctor Who )

Um, West Wing? Two Weeks Out )

Grey's Anatomy, on the other hand, Superstition )

Whew. Okay, I think I'm caught up now.

In other news, we had a few people over for dinner last night and I made the Once Upon a Time in Mexico cochinita pibil and a pitcher of sangria. And then I made the mistake of having half a cup of coffee after dinner and ended up completely unable to sleep last night. Now I'm tired and the weather is rainy and gross today and I don't feel like doing anything. Bleh.

Dang, I keep meaning to update, and I start composing entries in my head, and then when I actually have time to write them down I can't remember what I was going to say anymore.

Uh...

Hmmmm.

Well, I guess it's a given that the season finale of BSG blew my mind. It's amazing that I have cognitive function at all, the number of times that show's blown my mind. Lay Down Your Burdens )

Sunday's Grey's Anatomy was good. Band-Aid Covers the Bullet Hole )

As for West Wing... The Cold )

The really exciting news, however, is that there is a new Bones tonight AND a new Veronica Mars and THEY'RE NOT ON AT THE SAME TIME so I can actually TiVo both. Can I get a hallelujah, people? And as if that wasn't good enough, Adam Baldwin's guesting on Bones!

Ya'll, Friday's Battlestar Galactica BLEW MY MIND. That mushy pile in the corner there? That used to be my brain. Best. Episode. Ever. So good, I can't even talk about it.

As for last night's Grey's Anatomy... What Have I Done to Deserve This? )

Had an AWESOME time in Austin with [livejournal.com profile] austin360 this weekend. I showed up at her apartment with seven seasons of Buffy, four seasons of Angel, amaretto sour mixings and my knitting bag. We then proceeded to spend the next two days on the couch in front of the TV (or in the bed in front of the TV). Seriously, we only left the apartment twice for food. A crazy amount of television was watched by us. CRAZY. But I'm fairly sure I managed to suck her into the mad Buffy/Angel love (and the mad Cordelia/Xander/Willow/Oz love, and the mad Giles love...) somewhere around hour four or five of Buffython '06. I am such the crack dealer and she is my whore. The list of everything we watched... )

If nothing else, I'd say she's got a nice, healthy crush on David Boreanaz now, so my work here is done.

In other news, I went to a new colorist on Friday and got my hair colored a redder red than before. It's very red. Willow red, in fact. Not sure yet how much I like it, though. It's gonna take some getting used to. Plus, when I had it blow-dried afterwards, the stylist ironed it flat. Like, flatter than it's ever been before. Donna Moss flat. I didn't even know my thick and curly hair could do that. And then when [livejournal.com profile] austin360 and I were watching Grey's we realized that it looked just like Addison Shepherd's hair. Same style, same length, same everything. Only redder, because mine hasn't had a chance to fade yet.

I'm just gonna come right out and say it: I hate the Winter Olympics. Seriously, there is not a single sport that really interests me much. So far I've seen approximately 30 minutes of snowboard cross, 20 minutes of figure skating and 10 minutes of women's bobsled. All of it bored me to tears. And NBC's coverage makes my eyes roll back in my head. I've probably watched a total of three hours of their coverage so far and of that only one hour was of actual competition footage.

Worst of all, though, is that there is NOTHING ELSE ON! No one wants to run new episodes against the Olympics so everything's either a rerun or pre-empted entirely so they can show Final Destination 2. Kill me now. Thank god for Grey's Anatomy, which continues to rock my world (and manages to kick the Olympics' ass in the ratings while it's doing it).

And no new Veronica Mars episodes until March 15??? Gah! Is UPN actively trying to make me go back to watching Lost? I guess that's better than the rumor I heard before, that it was on hiatus until April, but still. I NEED MY VERONICA MARS FIX!

So, like, last week my laptop died and I developed mystery back pain, which meant I didn't spend much time on the computer because sitting at the desk was uncomfortable and I didn't have the option of reclining comfortably on the couch with the laptop. And then on Friday the back pain went away as mysteriously as it had appeared and on Saturday Mr. Sus popped open the laptop, looked quizzically at its innards, blew on the fan and *poof* it's working again. Yeah, I dunno. ::Insert blow job joke of your choice here::

Grey's Anatomy last night... spoilers ahoy )

And speaking of, guess what's out on DVD tomorrow? Yeah, someone's going to Best Buy.

I've really been wanting to change my LJ layout, but I can't decide what to do. I'm considering adding a header, but what? I could do something generic and decorative. Or I could just go all out fannish and go with a Veronica Mars layout. Hmmmmm.

I have Blue Bell King Cake ice cream in my freezer. All is right with the world. :)

The SAGs last night were eh. Mostly I was just so disappointed that Desperate Housewives won the Ensemble Comedy award over Arrested Development that it ruined the whole show for me. I mean--seriously--what is WRONG with people?

Grey's Anatomy, on the other hand, was one of the best episodes in ages. I want to marry George O'Malley. No, really. *loves* And Halfrek was Bailey's replacement! And she was awesome! Last week it was the Mayor on Bones, this week Halfrek on GA. I love it when Buffy alum show up on my favorite shows.

I feel like there was something else I was going to post about, but if there was I've forgotten it. Oh well.
