So, this NaNoWriMo thing is... hard. I mean, really hard. Like, it totally sucks and every single word I write is torture. Tuesday I just barely met my quota. Wednesday was even harder, but I dug in and managed to not only meet my quota but get a little bit ahead. Then Thursday was a big bust and I didn't write as much as I should. Friday the writing started to feel just the slightest bit easier, but no matter how much I wrote I was still somehow behind my quota. Today, after writing my butt off, I'm only 400 words down overall. Whew. Now, however, I'm tired, so I'm going to bed. Tomorrow I'll try to dig in again and see if maybe I can get ahead. Word count so far = 7700/50000.

It hasn't helped that the neighbors decided to replace the fence this week, so it's all day long every day with the banging and hammering and power tools and chattering workmen right outside the window of the office. It also meant that I had to walk the dog isntead of just tossing her butt into the backyard. But I think they finished today, so hopefully I'll have a little peace and quiet next week.

Last night we went to a candlelight vigil to commemorate the 2000th U.S. soldier to die in Iraq. They had 2000 flags set out in the median of Heights Blvd, each with the name, date and cause of death of the soldier it was for. I tried to look for TonyS, but it was too hard in the dark with candle and the small type. He was there somewhere, though.

Today we were going to go to the Renaissance Festival (HUZZAH!), but the munchkin's sick so we put it off 'til next weekend. Which was good because it gave me more time to write, but bad because I love the Renaissance Festival and was really looking forward to going. Mmmmm, food on a stick!
