I was very brave and didn't cry until Jed opened the napkin at the end. *sob* Overall, I thought it was a decently nice job. The earth didn't move or anything, but it didn't make me angry or leave me feeling betrayed, either. I appreciated that they gave all of the minor characters their own little moments. Ginger! Ed and Larry! Nancy! Ron "Sexypants" Butterfield! Even Elizabeth, one of the longtime extras, got a line of her own.

But the very best moment of all was the shot of Aaron in the audience at the inauguration. Aaron! Look, it's Aaron! Awwwwww. And he's put on some weight, which hopefully means he's off the hard stuff. We love you, Aaron! Plus, a Studio 60 commercial! Yay!

Yeah, I guess I'm not as sad as I feared I'd be, because the show really did end for me years ago. Whatever this is that's been on the last couple of season hasn't been my show, it's just an imitation, as the re-airing of the pilot so aptly drove home.

"Boy, those were the days, huh?"

The Aaron shot! I held my breath I was in such awe to see him on camera. Only teared up at the end though. with the napkin.

I have to say that I wasn't entirely pleased with the episode, but John Wells wrote it and it was exactly the difference in how Aaron would have done it to how John did it that I know I disliked.

I missed the Studio 60 commercial because our Mothers' Day guests were leaving, but I saw a shot of Brad and Matt Perry, that was very exciting.

I'm the same way. It wasn't amazing, I didn't cry (not even at the napkin, I knew what it was), but I didn't hate anybody. Except for the guy in Charlie's office. They had everything and everybody in there I would've had, except maybe with slightly different emphases.

I couldn't bring myself to watch the pilot... that I would've cried at!

Yep, it was the CJ moment at the podium that got me, too. (Although I loved the Jed/CJ scene in the Oval, too.) I told Mark that the box contained the framed napkin so that was a little anticlimactic for me. I did love the humor between Santos and his wife during the festivities.
I have not seen AS in real life, so when we flashed on him at the inauguration I wasn't absolutely sure it was him, but thought so.
I liked it when Martin was telling his daughter to tell her mother he'd be seeing her soon- the little in joke was fun.

Overall I give it a B, but AS could have done much better. One question- did we ever see Katie (the reporter)?

Whoa--Aaron Sorkin was at the inauguration? I was bored out of my skull by that time (as someone who gave up six eps into Season 5 and only came back to see how they handled John Spencer's death, I could not possibly care less about the Santos clan) and was concentrating on knitting during the pretty Keb Mo song--thank goodness for TiVo!

And having him there pretty much sums up my reaction to the ep--as a writer, John Wells is a pretty good producer. Through the whole thing, I missed the *words*--what I wouldn't have given for a spirited debate on the merits of the pardon for (absent--sob!) Toby. But having Aaron there might have taken some doing, and it's a very gracious and thoughtful gesture. The napkin was such a foregone conclusion that I barely noticed it by the end, but the scene where the president walks down the hallway greeting Carol and Ed and Larry? Broke me up. (RON!!!) Again, it probably took some doing to get so many of those actors there, and it's a very thoughtful gesture. So I guess Wells really did what he does best, and I appreciate it.

That was when I got misty. It really reminded me of seasons one and two and I got emotional. Sigh.
