I'm siiiiiiiiick. *whine* Stupid summer colds. My sinuses feel like they're stuffed with cotton balls soaked in Tabasco sauce. And I owe
mikijean an email and
carmen_sandiego beta comments, but it's all going to have to wait until my head clears up and I can think straight again.
On the bright side, the Bones finale last night was Squeelicious! Angst, crying, hugging, protectiveness, jealousy, hurrah! Of all the finales I cared about, this one was probably the least disappointing. Okay, so I don't expect much from Bones, so it doesn't have far to go to meet my expectations. The Grey's Anatomy finale was kind of annoying, West Wing was predictably meh, and Veronica Mars had moments of brilliance tempered by some pretty disappointing problems. I don't even count Gilmore Girls in the list of shows I care about any more.
Last night I watched Lost for lack of anything better to do. It felt like I haven't missed anything in the weeks that have passed since I stopped watching--because almost NOTHING HAS HAPPENED to advance the plot in any way. This is why I stopped watching this show. Also the fact that it's essentially degenerated into a bunch of people yelling at each other on a beach and generally failing to interact or communicate in any meaningful or interesting ways. I mean, Michael might as well have been wearing a sign that said "I'm EVIL. Ask me how." and NO ONE said anything about it except Sayid. The hell? And Jack continues to be unbearably bossy and annoying and consistently displays the poorest leadership skills I've ever seen and yet everyone is still deferring to him. Again, I say, the hell? Stupid show.
ETA: Dang, how cute does Mal look all sick and woozy? I wish I looked that hot right now.

Date: 2006-05-18 02:53 pm (UTC)I watched the other week in spite of not having watched all season and had the same reaction. Except I did wonder when they'd gotten a laundromat.

Date: 2006-05-18 02:59 pm (UTC)I'm quite pleased with ED's performance, really. I think she has some improvement to do in the overall body-language area, but her emotional tenor was quite good. And even DB was easing up on the over-acting, so props all around. But dude, no Angela/Hodgins love? Who else wanted her to go grab him by the lapels and snog? No? Just me? Okay then... *whistles*
I totally forgot about Lost last night, I suppose that's just as well? ;)

Date: 2006-05-18 03:35 pm (UTC)I can blame J.J. for what I suspect is faulty framework to begin with, though. Whatever they're building toward is something J.J. came up with and I have a pretty good suspicion it's totally lame.

Date: 2006-05-18 03:53 pm (UTC)See, I totally blame JJ. I don't care what he's off doing, he's still one of the EPs. And if you're going to give me good shit the first 22 times and you can't follow through, then give it up. *cries*

Heeeeeeeeeeee. One of the things that is helping me get past the disappointing parts of the VM finale, in addition to focusing on the awesome parts, is reminding myself that it could be worse--it could be Lost. It's one thing to have the audience in on information the characters don't have, like the purpose of the island, but it's another thing yet to have the characters willfully declining to pool information or display any curiosity about their situation: "Hey, where did all that food go?" Grrrrr.
Also, I need a tutorial on how to have a "just for fun" show--one that keeps me interested enough to watch it rather than wander off and do something else but that doesn't so thoroughly dominate me that I'm set up for finale disappointment because of high expectations. In other words, I need a Bones. Teeeeeeach meeeeee.
