This manages to be completely inevitable and yet somehow unexpected.

My net connection has been unusually pokey today. Did the internets fall down and go boom?

My use of this icon has nothing to do with either of the above topics, I just remembered that I had it.

I feel bad for the baby. I mean, when she gets older and looks back and realizes her whole family died within five months of when she was born? Except of course for her father, but no one exactly knows who that is, so.... Poor kid.

All my students wanted to talk about today was Anna Nicole Smith, which depresses me. I tried to argue that she used the human capital she had--in the form of a monstrous chest--to get famous, but I'm not sure they were buying.
